Pieter Wispelwey | cello |
---|
In the final part of Bach Through Time, Pieter Wispelwey begins at the beginning with the serene first suite in G major, recalled so movingly in Britten’s final suite for Rostropovich, a valedictory summation of their musical friendship. Accompanying these works are Ligeti’s distilled early solo sonata, infused with the spirit of Kodály, and the outpouring of joy which is Bach’s third Suite, with its cascading C major scales and high-kicking dances.
