Laurent Boutros | guitar |
---|
Paris born with Armenian origins, guitarist and composer Laurent Boutros was from an early age attracted to music from oral traditions, in which spontaneity and improvisation occupy an important place. In 1984, he met Raúl Maldonado, an Argentinian guitarist and composer who helped make possible his dream of familiarizing himself with the folk culture of Argentina and several other Latin American countries, whilst also training as a classical guitarist.
At a later stage of his development, he made the journey back to his own origins, inspired by the folk music of Armenia and other countries of the Caucasus. Beginning in 1993, several of his compositions were published by Editions Henry Lemoine and, more recently by Productions d’Oz. To date, he has played on several continents and is active as a concert artist, both solo and in trio.
As a composer, he has been commissioned by several prestigious festivals and institutions, most notably the Georges Pompidou Centre in Paris, who asked him to create music inspired by Joan Miró’s ‘ Harlequin’s Carnival’ for the Birth of the World exhibition.
As a guitarist he has in recent years made several tours in Mexico, Cuba and Argentina and also appeared regularly in Italy, Spain and Poland.
The programme includes work by Laurent Boutros, Aran Merangulian, Atahualpa Yupanqui and Ariel Ramirez.
This event will last approximately 60 minutes, without an interval.
