Community Spotlight: Springtime events in King’s Cross
Feature
The St Pancras Gardens daffodils are blooming, young ducks are taking their first swims in the Regent’s Canal, and soon the Granary Square steps will be adorned in turf and picnics once more. Our King’s Cross neighbourhood truly comes to life in the spring! Our latest Community Spotlight features our hand-picked local events and activities to put a spring in your step in the coming months (rain or shine!).

A wander in Camley Street Natural Park
Camley Street Natural Park is King’s Cross’s unlikely urban haven for plants and wildlife, run by the London Wildlife Trust. What was once a coal yard is now a rich natural habitat for plant life, birds, butterflies and amphibians.
Now that its two acres of wild woodland, grassland and wetland are waking up from the winter frost, it’s the perfect time for a peaceful escape into nature, or an adventure into wild habitats with Springtime family events from the Visitor and Learning Centre, including Wild Weekend and SENsory Explorers.

The Classic Car Boot Sale
Not just your ordinary car boot. The Classic Car Boot Sale returns to King’s Cross from 26-27 April for its annual spring edition.
Sprawling from Granary Square to Coal Drops Yard and all the way to Lewis Cubitt Square, enthusiast of all things pre-loved can enjoy a weekend of unique shopping and activities, including: over 100+ vintage fashion and homeware vendors, street food and craft beer, rare classic cars, vinyl DJs, clothing repair workshops, a family fun zone and charity stalls.

Pangolin London: Animal Instinct
For when the weather inevitably turns, Pangolin London are bringing the outside in with their current exhibition, extended until 26 April.
Animal Instinct features the sculpture work of 17 artists, all capturing the essence of the animals that share our planet, and highlighting our fundamental relationship with the animal kingdom.
Based at the entrance to Kings Place, Pangolin is one of London’s few galleries dedicated to sculpture. Also experience Earth Unwrapped, Pangolin’s exhibition on level -1 of Kings Place, coinciding with our 2025 festival of the same name and ‘spark[ing] questions about, and wonder for, Earth’.

The Independent Label Market
Since launching on Berwick St in May 2011, Independent Label Market has brought together the founders of over 400 of the World’s greatest independent record labels on both sides of the Atlantic to sell their fresh vinyl produce directly to the public at that traditional goods exchange – a market stall.
Vinyl lovers, rejoice. Independent Label Market is back on 20 May from 11.30 – 6.30pm.
The best Indie labels in town selling their finest releases including vinyl rarities and test pressings as well as extended back catalogues signed merchandise and advance copies.
Setting up alongside Independent Label Market, The London Brewers Market brings you London’s best brewers and The Craft Makers Corner makes its return for the Spring edition. The event will also feature a badge making and classic album colouring-in workshop for kids from 12 to 3pm, so there’s something for everyone. Entry is FREE.

London Canal Museum boat trips
Located just off the Battlebridge Basin on the Regents Canal, and just a stone’s throw from St Pancras International Station, London Canal Museum is always worth the trip when in the King’s Cross area. But with the boat trip season beginning again in April, spring is a particularly special time to pay a visit.
Choose either a standard or historic narrowboat for a peaceful cruise with a knowledgeable guide along the canal and through the Islington Tunnel. And don’t forget to visit the museum’s permanent and temporary exhibitions, telling stories of the people and industry of London’s historic waterways.

A stroll and a bite along the canal
If you’d rather appreciate the Regent’s Canal from solid ground, there are plenty of scenic routes along the towpath to take in the sites of Central London at water level.
Our favourite walk takes around one and a half hours to complete. It starts at Little Venice, the picturesque neighbourhood where the Grand Union and Regent’s canals meet. Then follow the towpath East, through Regents Park and towards Camden, finishing at Rotunda Bar and Restaurant at King’s Place for a delicious and rewarding end to your journey.
Rotunda has plenty of stylish outdoor terrace seating with spectacular views of the canal, right on the water. Have a drink or choose a springtime meal from their seasonal British menu, before heading downstairs to enjoy a Kings Place concert from our spring programme.
